About Us
Financial Guidance That Feels Like a Partnership

Built on Decades of Knowing Our Clients

Our roots run back to 1963, when a group of partners founded a CPA practice, now known as Crawford, Carter & Durbin, on the idea that good financial guidance comes from people who actually know you. Their names still sit on the door, and the standard they set still sets ours. What has grown over the years is how much of your financial life we are able to help with. Tax compliance was where we began, though it was never the whole picture. One pattern kept repeating itself: the people who came out ahead were the ones whose tax and investment decisions got made in the same conversation instead of separate ones. That pattern is what brought Crawford, Carter & Durbin and Aperture Wealth Management together into a single, proactive firm where tax and wealth management work in coordination from the start.

One Plan, Not Two Opinions

A tax professional looks at what you owe. An investment advisor looks at how your money grows. When those are two different people at two different firms, the handoffs fall through, and the cost lands on you. A move designed to lower this year's tax bill can quietly derail a retirement income strategy, while an investment decision made for growth can create an avoidable tax burden nobody saw coming. Because the tax side and the wealth side here belong to the same team, that gap gets caught before it reaches your bottom line. You explain your situation once, and everyone advising you is already working from the same set of facts.

We Don't Go Quiet After April

The complaint we hear most from people coming to us is that their last advisor went silent once the return was filed and resurfaced a year later as if nothing had happened in between. Financial questions do not keep that schedule. A job change, a property under contract, a parent who suddenly needs help–these arrive in March and September alike, and they are far easier to handle with a quick call than a year of waiting. You can reach a person who already knows your situation, and you will not be made to feel that you are interrupting. Some of the most useful conversations we have never touch a tax form at all.

What Guides the Harder Conversations

We would rather tell you something you do not want to hear than stay polite while you make an expensive mistake. If a strategy you are fond of is quietly working against you, you will hear about it in plain terms, even when keeping quiet would be the more comfortable choice for everyone. Caring about the people across the table sometimes means being the one willing to say the difficult thing. The values our founders named long ago–courage, authenticity, service, truthfulness, love, and effectiveness–are really a description of how those conversations are meant to go.

All these years later, we are still growing, still making room for the people and the professionals who want this kind of relationship. If your taxes, your investments, your financial planning, and your risk management have never once been part of the same conversation, that is usually the first sign you are in the right place.
